Tignes in summer with your dog

Are dogs allowed in the Vanoise National Park and Nature Reserves?

• From Tignes les Brévières, a “balcony” trail takes you to the villages of La Savinaz and La Gurraz and back.
• La Via Alpina” between Tignes 1800 and Tignes le Lac with magnificent views of Lac du Chevril
• The Bois de la Laye with a loop via the Croix de Combefolle, or via the Daille for the more athletic.
• The Chardonnet lakes from Tignes 2100 to admire the high altitude lakes
• Les chalets de Nazonde via the many paths in the heart of the Bois de la Balme (departure from Les Brévières, from the parking lot at the Brévières tunnel or from Le Chevril)

Outside protected areas, dogs can swim in the lakes. However, please respect the peace and quiet of fishermen if they are present.

In summer, dogs on a lead are permitted on the Tovière* gondola lift. There are numerous hiking trails accessible from the summit. These routes cross or run alongside the Bike Park trails, so you are strongly advised to keep your dogs on a lead to avoid any collisions.

Please note that dogs are no longer permitted on the Perce Neige funicular.

*The Tovière cable car will be closed throughout the summer of 2026

In the heart of the resort (village, tour du lac…), your dog must be kept on a leash.

In the wild, outside protected areas, there is no obligation to keep your dog on a leash. However, in view of the presence of herds and wild animals, we strongly advise you to keep your dog on a leash so as not to disturb local wildlife and pastoral life.

Even small, friendly, well-trained dogs are totally forbidden in the Vanoise National Park and Champagny Nature Reserve. They are permitted in the Grande Sassière reserve, but must be kept on a leash at all times.
