The place to be for climbers
The Tignes climbing wall is located in the Tignespace sports complex. Accessible all year round, summer and winter alike, the Tignes climbing wall is an incredible space for all vertical enthusiasts. There are two areas on site: an independent bouldering area and a climbing wall with several routes.
The climbing wall
The wall is approved by the Fédération Française de Montagne et d’Escalade (FFME), and comprises 55 belays spread over a 34-metre-wide section of wall. The routes are 16 metres high, and for the more experienced climbers there are two overhangs on the most challenging part of the wall.
This wall is reserved for initiated climbers at a high level. Although the routes on the wall change every year, the grades generally range from 4 to 8.
A section of the wall, on the left as you enter the gym, is dedicated to beginners, with a maximum height of 8 metres and introductory routes with no climbing level required.
The bouldering area
A bouldering area is also available on site. This is mainly for warming up. This area is accessible to everyone because of its low height, with no need for ropes or harnesses.
Practical info
Accessibility of the wall
The climbing wall is open during Tignespace opening times. On site, you can use a certified automatic belay device to climb on your own. However, this only gives you access to one route. Note that climbing always requires at least one partner to belay you.
Please also note that minors are not allowed on the climbing wall alone.
As far as safety is concerned, the wall is inspected every year. On your first visit, you will be asked to sign a waiver.
