Grande Motte Glacier
The highest point in the Tignes – Val d’Isère ski area at 3,656 metres, the Grande Motte glacier is the emblem of the Tignes resort.
An emblematic summit
The summit of La Grande Motte is the mythical and emblematic summit of the Tignes resort. So much so that it’s even featured in the resort’s logo, representing its characteristic white ‘wave’ against a blue sky.
Accessible in just 7 minutes thanks to the perce-Neige funicular (arriving at 3,032 m) and the cable car (arriving at 3,456 m), the glacier is a must for fans of great skiing and breathtaking scenery in every season.
From the moment it opens in November, be the first to ski its blue, red and black runs alongside the top national and regional alpine and freestyle ski teams as they prepare for the season ahead. Throughout the winter, and until May, take advantage of the exceptional skiing conditions offered by the resort’s altitude and exposure.
In July, you can enjoy a ‘summer skiing’ experience alongside the teams in training, or hire a mountain guide to help you discover, in complete safety, the breathtaking panorama that awaits you at an altitude of 3,656 metres!
