Roads, traffic and car info

There are several ways to get to Tignes: train, bus, car, plane… All the information you need to organize your visit to Tignes can be found on our dedicated page:

Resort access: getting to Tignes

  • In winter: you should anticipate your parking as far as possible by reserving your parking space online. Parking in the resort’s parking lots is compulsory.
  • Summer: parking in the resort’s parking lots is highly recommended. Unlike in winter, parking in Tignes is free in summer.

To recharge your electric or hybrid vehicle, Tignes is equipped with 3 charging stations:

  • Vénus terminal: 1 x 30 kW recharging point compatible with CCS2 socket | >> Go there

To improve road circulation in mountainous regions and user safety, it is compulsory to equip your vehicle with winter tires or snow chains or socks, from November1 to March 31, in certain mountainous areas.

Preparing your stay

Tignes has set up an online reservation center that lets you book your accommodation with your activities and services (ski pass, insurance, equipment rental). Our booking agents will also be happy to answer your questions and help you find the best accommodation for your stay in summer or winter.

To save time when you arrive in the resort, we advise you to book your ski pass in advance on the skipass-tignes.com website . You’ll then be able to collect your ski pass from an automatic machine or recharge it on a card in your possession.

You can also ask your accommodation provider or the Central Reservation Office, which may offer to buy your ski pass at the same time as your accommodation.

And here’s an extra tip: don’t forget to take out Carré Neige insurance for worry-free skiing.

Ski lifts

In winter and summer alike, special access conditions apply at the start of the ski lifts. These are set by the company in charge of operating the ski area and lifts, and are subject to change.

In summer :

  • Children under 90cm: Not permitted on the cable car. All other pedestrian lifts are accessible provided the child is secured in a baby carrier (use of the funicular is not recommended)
  • Children between 90cm and 1.10m: all pedestrian lifts are accessible provided the child uses the lift with a baby carrier.
  • Children between 90cm and 1.25m tall: must be accompanied by an adult to access the cable car’s roof terrace.
  • Children under 1.25m tall: must be accompanied by an adult to use a chairlift.

Once on site

No problem, as long as you respect the golden rules of drone piloting, and don’t fly over protected areas such as the Parc National de la Vanoise.
However, be careful not to injure people.

Regulations for the use of recreational and competition drones

Traffic conditions are different in winter and summer, but you can still get around without a car, thanks to our free inter-village shuttles.

If you arrive by train, Altibus shuttles will take you to the different villages of Tignes: information and booking on this link.

In summer, you can also get around the resort between Tignes le Lac, Tignes le Lavachet and Tignes Val Claret on Dott electric scooters for a short rental.

Our Tourist Offices offer a luggage storage service in the Maisons de Tignes au Lac and Tignes Val Claret.

In Tignes, wifi is free at tourist offices. All you need to do is create an account on the Wifi Station platform.
