Take the funicular and cable car (3,456m), then stop off on the Panoramic terrace between sky and mountains for a view of the surrounding peaks and mythical massifs: Mont Pourri, the crests of Grande Sassière, Grande Casse (highest point of the Vanoise: 3,856 meters) and the majestic Mont Blanc range.

A life-size interlude

Here, you’re at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park, in a precious and protected national nature reserve. This exceptionally rich territory is a refuge for many Alpine species. Thanks to its protected status, hunting is forbidden, allowing the ibex to roam freely on its historic migration corridor.

Take time to observe, breathe and listen. In this majestic mineral setting, every detail tells the story of a thousand years of natural history. And if you pay close attention, you might even catch a glimpse of a bearded vulture soaring through the sky, or make out a few chamois on the ridges.

A 360° panorama… from the cable car roof

The two cable car cabins with roof terraces offer a unique 360-degree view of one of the finest panoramas in the French Alps, with views of Mont Blanc, the Cime de Bellecôte and the Grande Sassière needle.

Before you leave

This is a glacial zone. Even if access is easy, it’s essential to respect the marked areas for your own safety. Don’t stray from authorized routes, and make sure you’re well equipped, even in summer (warm clothing, sunglasses, sun cream…).
