On the way to Tignes
To get to Tignes from the other side of the Channel, you can easily use the road network. Travel to France via the Channel Tunnel, then continue along the French roads to Savoie and Tignes.

Getting to Tignes
Once you arrive in Savoie (the French department in which Tignes is situated), the road is straightforward and well-maintained. Follow these directions:
- A430 Chambéry–Albertville
- A 2×2-lane highway to Moûtiers
- N90 to Bourg Saint Maurice
- D902 to Tignes
Plan Your Trip
Before You Leave
Your vacation in Tignes is fast approaching. You want to be as prepared as possible before arriving at our beautiful Savoyard ski resort, and you’re absolutely right. Before you leave, keep a few things in mind:
- Be sure to perform the usual checks before setting out on a long drive (fluid levels, tire wear, etc.)
- In winter, be sure to have the required special equipment (winter tires, snow chains)
- Estimate the travel time needed to get to Tignes and plan your departure time. Allow plenty of time to ensure a stress-free trip.
On the Road
Once you’ve decided to go to Tignes, you still have to make the trip there. Remember to:
- Take breaks when necessary. Don’t put yourself in unnecessary danger!
- Don’t always follow your GPS: especially in winter, some mountain passes are closed. Be sure to check your route.
- Check traffic conditions via the radio or other news sources: traffic delays, accidents, detours…
Are the roads snowy?
The closer you get to Tignes, the greater the chance of seeing snow on the roads. On the final stretch between Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Tignes, the higher you climb, the more likely it is that snow will remain on the road. So, be sure to stay informed about road conditions, either through the Savoie information website or by tuning in to Radio Station R’Tignes. You can also call the Tignes Tourist Office for additional information if you have any questions.
If the weather conditions on the day of your arrival are rather unfavorable and require you to put chains on your vehicle, please note that there are several designated areas for this purpose along the route between Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Tignes.

Where to park in Tignes?
You’ve arrived safely at your destination. Now all that’s left is to park. In Tignes, if your accommodations don’t include a parking space, you’ll need to use the resort’s parking lots. Indigo manages the parking lots in Tignes. Visit their website before your stay to reserve your parking spot. That way, when you arrive, you won’t have to worry about a thing.
If you were unable to reserve your parking spot in advance, please go directly to the Lac 3 parking lot ticket window located beneath the Maison de Tignes le Lac. There, you can speak directly with an attendant, who will direct you to the parking lot closest to your residence or, if none are available, to parking lots that still have openings.
Once parked
Because a car-free resort is a resort that breathes, in Tignes, leave your car in the parking lot! Park your vehicle in one of the parking lots near your lodging and take the free shuttles! They run every day during the winter and summer seasons*.
Parking is paid in the winter and free in the summer. For your convenience, check where to park your vehicle and reserve your parking spot online before you arrive (in the winter).
*No shuttle service during the off-season.
