Tignes to host the FIS Para-Alpine Skiing World Cup in 2024

 

16 and 17 december 2024

 

 

The meeting place for para skiers

Tignes will be the venue for the second stage of the FIS Alpine Para Ski World Cup on 16 and 17 December 2024.

 

The athletes will be competing on the Lognan stadium in Tignes Val Claret in the hope of scoring as many points as possible before the second French leg of the competition in Courchevel on 19 and 20 December 2024.

 

 

The world cup

The Alpine Paraski World Cup is a series of international alpine skiing competitions for athletes with a disability. It enables athletes to compete at world level in adapted events such as slalom, giant slalom and downhill.

 

The athletes are physically or visually impaired. The events are adapted to their specific needs, using specialised equipment.

Organised by the FIS (International Ski Federation), these competitions take place in various resorts, including two in France this year: Tignes on 16 and 17 December and Courchevel on 19 and 20 December.

 

The Alpine Paraski World Cup is an important springboard for athletes aspiring to take part in the Paralympic Winter Games. It enables them to measure their performance against the world's elite and qualify for competitions at a higher level.

 

In short, this competition showcases the talent and determination of disabled skiers, while helping to promote adapted sport at international level.
