Opening of the resort in November
Start the season in Tignes!
Are you looking for a ski resort that opens in November so you can get a head start on some great skiing? Then Tignes is the place for you! With its superb pistes, it’s the perfect place for all the winter sports fans out there: skiers and snowboarders will find a wide choice of pistes, and a training ground for many champions!
A rare ski resort open in November, Tignes and its fantastic ski area give you the chance to get on your skis before everyone else, and enjoy some fabulous sensations: you can make your first tracks on the mythical Double M piste, linking the Grande Motte glacier and Tignes Val Claret: 1,400 metres of vertical drop await you, for a ski-in, ski-out return to the resort!

Spring skiing in Tignes
At Tignes, each sector opens gradually depending on the snowfall, so you can ski from 3,456 metres (arrival of the cable car on the Grande Motte glacier) to 1,550 metres (Brévières village). At the height of the season, you can enjoy a total of 300km of pistes in the linked Tignes – Val d’Isère area! The ski resort is open in April, and until May for the high altitude ski area… so there’s plenty of scope for unrestrained skiing!

Beginners’ areas
At Tignes, you can learn to ski at your own pace. The beginners’ areas allow you to progress on the pistes according to your level and progress:
- 100% beginners, discover! Discover flat skiing, balance and the feel of the equipment. Free ski lifts: Val Claret, Tignes le Lac, Tignes 1800 mats and Grande Parei ski lifts at Les Brévières and Lavachet at Tignes le Lac.
- 75% beginners, learn! I’m making progress and feeling my first thrills on the slopes, so stop! Free chairlifts: “Bollin” at Val Claret, “Almes” and “Rosset” at Le Lac.
- 30% beginners, move on! I’ll continue to build my confidence as I go along, on safe pistes and longer lifts. I buy my Tignes or Tignes – Val d’Isère ski pass
- I’m skiing! I’m ready for the Tignes – Val d’Isère area.

Fun and freestyle areas
- 2 snowparks (Tignes and Val d’Isère)
- Boardercross (Tignes and Val d’Isère)
- Gliss’park (Tignes le Lac)
- Sledging areas: 2 free toboggan runs for children, one at the Lake (between the Lagon and the Tovière cable car), the other at Le Lavachet (opposite the Lavachet car park). You can also discover the Expedition Cobra toboggan run!
- 9 slalom stadiums
- 1 mogul stadium
- 1 cross-country ski loop on the lake and at Val Claret
- 1 fun animal/superhero themed piste (Tignes Val Claret)
Cross-country skiing
A cross-country skiing loop has been laid out along the shores of the frozen Tignes lake, between Val Claret and Tignes le Lac. It’s a great way for beginners to discover cross-country skiing in a magnificent setting, and for the more experienced skiers to work on their cardio with a series of ascents and descents at the foot of the Tufs at 2100m! A cross-country skiing area has also been set up at Les Brévières, subject to snow conditions.
