Golf in Tignes
18-hole golf course in Savoie at over 2,100m altitude: a unique experience.
The highest golf course in Europe
Are you used to perfecting your swing by the sea? For a change, why not try the very special technicality of a mountain golf course! Savoie offers a variety of quality 9-hole and 18-hole golf courses that will appeal to fans of breathtaking scenery. The 18-hole golf course at Tignes (the highest in Europe!), situated at an altitude of 2,100 metres, below the Grande Motte glacier, offers an exceptional panoramic view over the Lac de Tignes. The contrast of colours between the green of the greens, the blue of the lake and the white of the glaciers is breathtaking. A unique experience… and fun: nicknamed the ‘marmot course’, you can’t take your eyes off your ball or it will disappear into one of the many burrows you can see around the fairways.
Another original feature of the Tignes golf course is the high-flying competition organised every two years… 270 m above the 18-hole course, in a mountain corridor in the Tufs! The aim is to reach the green of hole 18 by making your ball travel more than 420 m. Strength and precision are essential.
Opening dates and times
The Tignes golf course is open from the end of June to the beginning of September: a relatively short period of time, depending on the melting of the snow in spring and the return of the snowflakes in winter, which is absolutely essential!
Playing golf in Savoie requires a good level of technical skill, as well as being in good physical condition to cover the course from the 1st to the 18th hole. The Tignes golf course is also equipped with 8 buggies to make things easier for you – and allow you to concentrate on your game without losing your breath (unless it’s the exceptional setting that’s got your head spinning?).
