Tignes lake

In summer and winter alike, come and enjoy Tignes’ natural lake, nestling in the heart of the resort at an altitude of 2100 metres!

In winter

In the middle of winter, the very idea that there could be a lake right in the heart of the resort may come as a surprise, but it’s not… You’ve probably already crossed its frozen surface to walk between Tignes le Lac and Tignes Val Claret without even realising it. Intrigued? Go to the giant #TIGNES in Tignes le Lac or directly from the Tovière gondola to take a look at this strangely smooth, white expanse!

Don’t be fooled by appearances: the lake is full of activities in winter too! Fancy a dog-sleigh ride? Do you prefer to relax? Then let yourself be carried away by the icy waters of the lake with Ice Floating, an activity that’s as surprising as it is relaxing! More of an adventurer? Let yourself be tempted by a visit to the frozen lake… from underneath! A unique and immersive ice diving session that will give you a glimpse of a wonderful and peaceful setting.

You can also admire the lake and the whole resort from above with a trip in the air, by microlight or paraglider!

In summer

Already a fan of mountain holidays in summer? The natural mountain lake at Tignes, whose waters flow straight down from the Grande Motte glacier, will certainly hold no secrets for you! Acroland, stand-up paddle, pedal-boat, canoe, kayak, trout fishing… The Tignes water sports centre is a real paradise for thrill-seekers and fans of the great classics. ‘It’s the place to be for anyone who loves the ’beach in the mountains” atmosphere!

The spot is perfect for an easy, accessible stroll around the lake, with views of the Grande Motte, the Grande Sassière and the Tufs massif. You’ll also be close to the water sports centre, where you can take time out to watch the more adventurous jump into the water from the top of the Acroland springboards (which might give you some ideas?), or next to the 18-hole golf course, the highest in Europe, or discover one of the many spots dedicated to picnics and barbecues (note that during periods of drought, barbecues may be banned by prefectural decree; check with the tourist office).

And what could be better than a concert on the lake at the end of the day? Yes, on the lake. Every Monday and Thursday during the summer season is Soirée Barge! Local artists, DJs and bands will be performing a unique concert from the Barge, a floating stage that will be on the lake for 2 hours. It’s an original way to spend the late afternoon, either on the terrace or strolling along the lake.
