The Grande Motte glacier is the highest point you can ski from in Tignes’ domain, set 11,995 ft. high. In just 7 minutes, you can start skiing up on the glacier in Tignes. Climb aboard the Perce-Neige (‘Snowpiercer’) funicular reaching 9,947 ft. then catch the cable car to the terrace set 11,338 ft. high, less than 650 ft. from the summit. As you climb up, you can soak in the spectacular panoramic view over the mountain tops and valley far below.
Once at the top, you can ski down one of the blue, red or black slopes perched high up in the ski domain. Thanks to its climatic conditions, the Grande Motte glacier is ideal for skiing very early on in the season, and right up to the early summer months.
