THE tignes SNOW REPORT THROUGHTOUT THE SEASONS...
From the beginning of October when the first snowflakes begin to fall, it’s time to get your ski legs back on the Grande Motte glacier and make your first turns of the season before everyone else! Looking for decent early snow? Lower temperatures mean that snow can be created artificially. Depending on the conditions, enjoy the gradual opening of the pistes in Tignes until the Tignes - Val d’Isère link opens and the winter season begins.
Some of the world’s greatest athletes will be training alongside you, preparing for future competitions on the dedicated race pistes. The Grande Motte glacier offers ideal conditions for all the national and international ski teams. One of the steepest glaciers around (perfect for the speed skiing, slalom and downhill teams), it opens earlier than everywhere else and has optimum snow conditions.
The XXL Tignes – Val d’Isère ski area (300kms of green, blue, red and black ski runs and 3200 hectares of off-piste) offers multiple freestyle areas for budding champions and freestyle experts and dedicated beginner zones where you can learn to ski in a calm environment. With maximum snow cover over the dual ski area, you can explore everything it has to offer, especially during the Christmas or half-term holidays!
Nice soft snow, beautiful sunshine, rising temperatures, “soft” landings in the snowpark, soaking up the sun on the terrace… Sounds good, doesn’t it? It’s during the spring that the snow + sun equation is at it’s zenith in Tignes! Enjoy the Tignes – Val d’Isère ski area until the beginning of May and enjoy an extra week’s skiing in Tignes (Grande Motte area). A great idea for the Easter holidays !
Summer days in Tignes start with cooler temperatures in the morning and end with flip-flops in the afternoon! It’s time to enjoy summer skiing, a drink on the terrace at 3000m and panoramic views of snowy peaks… Come and ski on 20kms of ski runs on the glacier between 3456m and 3000m, try out your new tricks in the snowpark, go cross country skiing and get a tan on the terrace of the Panoramic in this incredible setting.
