Safety in the ski area

Safety in the Tignes ski area: a shared priority

At Tignes, safety for everyone is a top priority. Whether you’re a beginner skier, a seasoned freerider or just a walker on snowshoes, getting around in the mountains means knowing the rules, respecting the signs and adopting the right reflexes. Safety is based both on a rigorous professional system and on the individual responsibility of each person.

Mountain rescue services are provided by trained, responsive teams who are available every day of the season. In the event of an accident or problem on the slopes, a well-honed organisation is put in place to intervene quickly, with the right equipment and a perfect knowledge of the terrain.

The risk of avalanche is a reality as soon as you leave the marked runs. It depends on a number of factors: weather conditions, snowpack stability, visitor numbers, etc. Every off-piste outing must be preceded by a rigorous assessment, and skiers must be equipped, informed and prepared.

Finally, prevention is the most effective weapon for limiting accidents. Information panels, risk bulletins, messages broadcast in the resorts, awareness campaigns and training courses are all ways of ensuring that everyone can enjoy the mountains with a clear conscience.
