What type of race?

The 12 heures du lac gelé de Tignes is Tignes' winter running event. The event is unique in that it takes place on the frozen lake of Tignes, and participants, in teams, must complete the defined course over a period of 12 hours!

To sum up :

• Race format: as the name suggests, participants have to run on the frozen lake for 12 hours in a festive atmosphere, with athletes of all levels. The race is a team relay. Other formats, shorter than 12 hours, are also available.
• The course: the race takes place on a 3km circuit laid out on the frozen surface of the lake, offering a spectacular setting with the surrounding mountains and an exceptional natural environment.
• Competition and atmosphere: the 12 Hours of the Frozen Lake is a sporting event, but also a festive one. Professional and amateur racers compete in a friendly atmosphere.
• A physical challenge: taking part in this race requires good physical condition, especially given the weather conditions, which can be harsh at this time of year. The race on the frozen lake and the long hours of competition add an extra challenge to the event.

• 6-hour relay (2 to 5 people)
• 1 lap of the lake (3km for 14 years old and over)
• KIDS sprint (200m for 5 to 14 years old)
