Breaking news : the skier Xavier Bertoni becomes a Tignes athlete!
The young rider has officially signed a sponsor contract with the resort of Tignes, at the beginning of Feburary. This will be an opportunity for him to train "at home", on a training site fitted to competitions. "Being able to train without having to fly and relocate abroad is a real advantage!" said Xavier. Because in Tignes, no airport but a Halfpipe sets up for all the winter season and Tignes’ slopes as an amazing playground. Nothing better to prepare before international contests. For Tignes, associating its image to Xavier’s and freestyle skiing’s is totally fair when one knowns that the resort hosts the biggest alternative sports event, the Winter X Games Europe.
Focus on ... Xavier Bertoni, the young Halfpipe star
Xavier is born to ride! After several seasons in alpine ski, he turned to freestyle skiing and particularly to Halfipe, a discipline he breaked in very quickly. At only 21 years old, Xavier is becoming a master in this discipline. Have a look on his achievements : Halfpipe France champion in 2006, Halfpipe winner of the NZ Open in 2007, 2nd in Halfpipe World Cup in 2009, Winter X Games Superpipe 13 gold medalist in 2009, Winter X Games Superpipe 14 bronze medalist in 2010. Xavier entered the history of freestyle in 2009, when he won the X Games Superpipe event in Aspen ahead of Tanner Hall and Simon Dumont . Xavier was also one of the first athletes selected for the first Winter X Games Europe in Tignes, where he won the silver medal just after his friend Kévin Rolland, the gold medalist of the SuperPipe course in Aspen and in Tignes.
