At more than 2 000 m, altitude is ideal for reaping all the benefits of oxygenation. As air pressure diminishes, oxygen becomes rarer. 

After a few days, the human body adapts by producing more red blood cells. The circulation of oxygen in the blood becomes more efficient. 

Once you return to your normal altitude, your endurance levels are significantly improved. It’s not surprising that many great athletes train in high altitude before important competitions.

A new challenge is looming ahead for Laurent Demola, the president of the association  « Un jour la vie » : to swin between Ajaccio and Marseille with 3 other swimmers.

He is coming to train in Tignes with the full support of the station between march 2nd and 31st

They will alternate ski and workouts at the aquatic center Le Lagon at 2100m altitude during their stay from February 2nd to 9th 2013.

This swimming club brought around 50 of its young athletes in Tignes for an intensive daily training: 4 hours swimming in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon.
