1952. The former village of Tignes disappeared under the flood waters of the dam, and Tignes 1800, then known as Tignes les Boisses, becomes the communal center.
Up to 1975, the plateau des Boisses remains the official main seat of Tignes, with its City Hall, its school and its post office, until it rode up to 2100 m, where a handful pioneers had begun to develop Tignes le Lac during the grand deeds of the white gold saga.
Since the 1980s, several real estate projects have been studied, but they have been quickly forgotten in favour of Tignes les Brévières, and Tignes les Boisses becomes rather a passageway than a real antenna of the resort, which is then known at an international level.
This time, it’s the right one! Since spring 2012 the first 4 chalets of Tignes 1800 begin to see the light, for an opening on December 2013. Soon, another 2 new chalets will follow, and open in December 2016.
It is a great project which will give its previous life back to the plateau of Tignes 1800!
